It’s Cultural Marxism on parade. We will tell you what to think and who to hate. Facts be dammed. It’s a corrosive sickness, and it preys on the meek and weak minded to divide and weaken individuals, families, neighbours, communities villages, towns, cities, nations and Nation States.

Elon Musk said it best. Israel's objective in Gaza should be to be to end Hamas or Hamas-like entities. If this endeavor results in more orphaned children hating Israel that will in the future attack Israel, it has objectively failed at its objective of keeping Israel secure and peaceful. It is not wrong for Israel to root out Hamas from Gaza, it isn't possible. Armed violence does not work in the 21st century. The Taliban had a 20+ year sojourn and just went back to it after trillions were spent.

The 'what about approach' does not really work if your objective is to truly understand the other side. You are correct that more people should condemn more atrocities elsewhere. That does not abrogate or derogate from legitimate criticism against any entity. Two wrongs do not make a right. Israel's right-leaning government can be wrong and Hamas can be wrong at the same time. They can be different degrees of wrong. All of this is possible in a multi-faceted world.

Netanyahu by his own admission helped support and prop up an entity like Hamas to serve his own goals (cheifly staying in power). The West Bank has suffered the creation of mini-Gazas because of a policy that at the end of it, has and will continue to make Israel less secure. This is pure geo-politics and not religious identity wars.

Syria/Yemen/China are not simple issues and I don't see the equivalence, but clearly injustice exist in all of those places.

We've only met twice I think, but I do hope we can agree to the following:

-Israelis are not going anywhere

-Palestinians are not going anywhere

-Peace and security for Israel can only be achieved by soft power other than attempting to use nukes to obliterate an entire people. Israel will secure itself by building Israeli-equivalent schools in Gaza and the West Bank with a massive Star of David on them far more effectively than bombing either to rubble.

-Going back to the past, whether to reference a right to the land via the Torah, or for historical wrongs against Palestinians is pointless and an irrelevant exercise.

-The worst enemy to Palestinians is Hamas, but the current government in Israel is a close second given its treatment and strategy in the West Bank. They are not good people, they do not represent the average Israeli, and are a net negative for Israeli sovereignty.

Insofar as this relates to Canada, everyone should be able to demonstrate peacefully on the basis of free speech, recognizing that there can be consequences for that free speech. Advocating for the death of innocent Palestinians would unsurprisingly lead to a loss of your job just as advocating for the destruction of Jews or killing innocent Israelis would also result in a loss of your job.
