“We get letters,” the saying goes, and the early feedback on yesterday’s post (“Is the silent, sane majority ready to re-establish the parameters of “Canadian values?") covered the gamut:
Doha has been playing a double game for years, its harbouring of Hamas is different only in degree from Pakistan’s of OBL. Israel’s strike on the Hamas compound was limited and proportional, ergo just. It’s a disgrace that the Canadian government (along with most of the “west”) have condemned it, and equally disgraceful that President Trump can’t be equivocal in supporting it (oh right, that little CENTCOM establishment…). Somehow that they have all combined so that the only one coming out looking good in this is Netanyahu only adds to my misery.
I'm much less concerned about foreign terrorists. We have to remain vigilant but terrorism in Canada has been almost exclusively homegrown. Internally, I am significantly more concerned about white nationalists et Al than any foreign terror group.
More to the point, the extrajudicial and the extra-jurisdictional nature of the tasks for which the Israeli, Russian, and US government are deploying thier military is my interest.
First they create the conditions (general narrative, tap into dissent etc.) then they take action. No due process (or even factual basis) and no respect for jurisdictional boundaries.
The foundational narrative is in place and growing in Canada. This may be our greatest risk.
There are Canadians that support this sort of action. Some would welcome it here, whether is fentanyl, wokeness, or some other countrived or overblown grievance, and others are just blissfully unaware how Canada is getting more and more likely to be on the receiving end of such an operation.
The belief that hypocrisy, or any given trait, is the domain of the “left” or the “right” is most significant variable leading to many outcomes we see today, from polarized debate, to extra-judicial killings, to war.

I wonder how folks are going to feel when the US military executes it’s initial military operations in Canada to address the “fentanyl issue.”
There are "Some easy steps [for Canada to take] on terror front" -- from August 2024 https://www.thestar.com/opinion/star-columnists/some-easy-steps-on-terror-front/article_dc5ddf1a-5404-11ef-b2f8-671499f7539f.html

The hypocrisy of the Left is astounding and agenda driven. The revolution is all the justification they need for contrarian views and opinions.
